THE WAY WE DO - Poems in pursuit of art

The creative process is exciting, exhausting, exhilarating, and frustrating. This collection of poems narrates the process that creative individuals experience. Each monthly installment represents the trials, joys, and fun of artmaking. How does one find ideas? What environment does one need to be creative? What materials are needed? These are but a few questions explored in the collection to be published at a future date. Art and poetry are synonymous. Art is a visual poetry of distilled thought and expression. Poetry is a lingual painting of color, texture and imagery.
I believe it is our responsibility, as artists in any medium, to help preserve that which is real, alive, felt and human.
Epistle to an Art Student
Dear Art Student,
I am a painter who has stell'd many a work in the past.
I too was afraid of laying it all out on beauty's table. For I understand your
limited perspective of your art. See all the skill that you can find in each
attempt whether it's a kitschy landscape or a huge bosom hanging figure painting in ink.
So many windows will open up for your eyes. So many turns and failures done by you, will help draw and shape your thoughts to what really works.
Then, will the delights of your handiwork send a gaze of success in your mind.
Art has a cunning grace that will sneak up on you and better allow you to see
into your own heart.
